(Re-edited as of Nov. 2012) Hung over and tired, twenty-four year old Jessica finds she has made a crazy bet to get a date with her favorite celebrity, Ian Drake. Of course the bet would be unthinkable except for the small problem that she made it with her enemy, Erik. She decides to use the bet as a way to prove to herself and others that when she sets her mind to something she can truly accomplish it.
Erik is astounded to realize that Jessica has taken the bet seriously but refuses to come clean on the reason she made it to begin with... as a result of his asking her out. He's just grateful she apparently doesn't remember that part of the conversation, and in fact wishes he could forget it as well. Only...somehow Jessica has started to get under his skin, and not in the annoying way she has in the past. While Jessica is doing everything she can to win the bet, Erik finds he is doing everything he can to spend more time with her.
Jessica learns that Ian Drake has a vacation home somewhere in Lake Tahoe and decides to go there for a month over the summer to track him down. Her schemes lead her into many hilarious situations. And, although things don't go exactly as planned, Jessica learns a lot about motivation, determination and love.... Not to mention making bets.

One of the things that made Betting Jessica such a great story was all of the wonderful characters. The author did an excellent job of creating people with likable, multi-faceted personalities who seemed so real that they almost jumped out of the pages. I simply loved the original plot; it held my interest while I watched Jessica grow and change for the better after she set out to win the bet with Erik. The imagery was fantastic, especially the descriptions of the scenery around Lake Tahoe. (I particularly liked when Erik and Jessica got caught in a hailstorm and Erik used the picnic basket to shelter them.) The only negative thing about this book was that the editing missed a lot of mistakes. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and I definitely recommend it it to anyone who wants a lighthearted romantic comedy.Product details

Betting Jessica edition by Deanne Wilsted Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I would highly recommend reading this book. It had a very interesting plot that was unique to anything I had read in a while. I did not want to set it down.
Light reading with very good character development and all taking place in two favorite places, Boston and Tahoe. Thinking some of the characters may be in future books by this author.
The book seemed to drag on too long and I started to get frustrated with Jessica and Erik! Also, there were so many wrong words and editting issues, that I could barely read it.
An excellent first effort which leaves me expecting great things from this author. I enjoyed the story line but would have liked it to be broader.
Very fun read with characters I could be friends with! Great settings in Tahoe and Boston...looking forward to more from Deanne Wilsed.
This was a fun story to read. It could have used a little more proofreading, but the writing was great. I enjoyed reading about the dynamics of the group as well as watching the couples come together. It's always fun nice to get a "bonus" romance in a book. LOL I liked watching Jessica's confidence grow and poor Erik just couldn't figure out why he became a completely different person around her.
